National Anthem

Flag of Nepal
Queen Elizabeth II visited USA on May 7, 2007. People were saying this visit would be a crucial one as both country’s on going war on Iraq.( as UK are withdrawing their Troops from Iraq, Phase wise.)
BBC and CNN were broadcasting it live on air.

George W. Bush accompanied by ‘first lady’ and Queen Elizabeth by ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ on welcome ceremony on white house, Washington.

Queen Elizabeth was Given 21 gunfire salute/salutation and they started to sing National Anthem of their own nation. 1st it was National Anthem of UK followed by USA.

All of a sudden I realized my country Nepal do not have National Anthem. What is our National Anthem? Our Country doesn’t even have National Anthem after implementation of “Loktantra” (new terminology for Democracy with same old strategy/Policy). As people want to go republic, old one was banned as it reflects more of Monarchy and king.

If we have to sing our National Anthem with the sentiment of nationalism what will we sing because we don’t have one!!!

Is it good to hear citizen of a nation (Nepal), which doesn’t even have their own National Anthem??

Book Review |Eleven minutes - Paulo Coelho|

Last week I read a Novel, Eleven minutes by Paulo Coelho. It is the story of Maria, a young girl from a Brazilian village, whose first innocent brushes with love leaves her heartbroken.
In Rio she makes the ill-advised judgment to leave Rio on a stranger's promise of fame and fortun which takes her to Geneva... Instead, she ends up working as a prostitute.
At a tender age, she becomes persuaded that she will never find true love, and believing that "Love is a terrible thing that will make you suffer."
Later she meets a young painter and her unalike view of love is put up to the test. Lately she realizes her mistake and her one decision has taken her to the path of darkness.
This novel sensitively explores the nature of sex, and readers also can explore the potentially consecrated nature of sex within the context of love and life. Feelings are our creation and should be controlled by us or else it will embrace us.

Coelho narrates the story in striking and simple way giving us every detail of what he wanted us to know. His ability creates a character who grabs our sympathy every time we read his books are something unique and should be appreciated.

Coelho's Eleven minutes is surely going to be on my Favourite books list.

new york waiting

"The first meeting and second chance" - carrying this theme is last year's NEW YORK WAITING. One of the official selections for Tribeca Film Festival in 2006, this story has brought together two strangers in New York. One, waiting for love - and another, searching for love - and eventually both of them falling in love. Strange, hugh!

I never thought this kind of story exists in real life, however, movies are movies - and after watching this, it has made me belive that, "Love can strike you any time - any place - any face - any grace, no matter how you carry yourself".

Definitely, the newest entry in my FAVOURITE MOVIES list! It's gonna be a memorable one for a long time.
